The piece de resistance of the development, the Sands Skypark, containing the luxury 150-metre long infinity-edge swimming pool, was dramatically lit from 200 metres below, creating a rippling effect beneath the structure enhancing the architect’s vision of this iconic feature representing a floating ship in the night sky.

The Art Science Museum’s “open palm” inspired design was illuminated in a subtle display of colours acting as a symbolic gesture of welcome to guests from across the globe. Multiple search lights radiating from the museum’s water oculus extended several kilometres skywards as a beacon from across the bay and was complemented by twelve 15 metre-high flame effects dancing on the tips of the museum’s fingers captivating the audiences gathered along the One Fullerton promenade.

To entertain the audiences from across the bay, Laservision installed seven high powered Laservision Light~Ray and Stella~Ray laser systems. The full colour and gold laser systems projected sheets of light and high intense beams from the event plaza area across the entire bay.

The events plaza with an audience capacity of 10,000 will form the audience viewing area for a nightly permanent attraction set to be unveiled in 2011.

Over 1,000 of the world’s international media attended the Opening Ceremony, including Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of LVSC, Mr Sheldon G. Adelson. Mr Adelson commented on the opening of the Integrated Resort that “MBS will now be the reference point by which all new tourism projects are judged…..and will change the conservative perception of what Singapore has in the night time.

It is expected between 125,000 and 150,000 people per day will visit the Integrated Resort and Chief Operating Office, Mr Mike Leven, has forecast annual revenue of US$1 billion, recouping its investment in just four to five years.
