Laservision has recently won four major national awards. They are ‘Australia’s Best Small Business’, ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’, ‘Creative Small to Medium-Sized Enterprise’ (second time) and the ‘NSW Exporter of the Year in the category of Arts and Entertainment’ (second time).
These awards recognise the creative and technical solution Laservision provided to Hong Kong’s Harbour and its Symphony of Lights. This nightly spectacular was produced for the Hong Kong Tourism Commission. Described as the “largest of its kind, even ever attempted”, the Symphony of Lights celebrates the permanent illumination of 33 of Hong Kong’s most prominent buildings.
The sensory mediums of the 14-minute show include high-powered lasers, architectural lighting, fireworks and an original soundtrack. This soundtrack is simulcast to local radio stations and can be dialled into via mobile phones.
Laservision’s recognition as ‘Australia’s Best Small Business’ was based on “the business that had best-established strength in the market and demonstrated its ability to innovate and adapt within a constantly changing business environment”. This prestigious award was recently presented to Laservision by David Koch, founder of Palamedia (Australia’s largest distributor of Finance and Business Media).
The Australian Institute of Engineers has celebrated the accomplishments of Laservision’s Engineering Department as one of the finest in the world. Laservision was awarded their inaugural ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ for the release of the company’s new series of proprietary show control technology. The technology includes the combination of Digital Data-Pump Series II (hardware) and Media-Manager (software). Proven in Hong Kong, Laservision’s new series of show control systems are utilised for “shows demanding a high level of precision and reliability”.
Of the Symphony of Lights, “Hong Kong Harbour’s ‘Symphony of Lights’ is one of the most ambitious and visually impressive productions ever staged,” remarked Andy Ciddor, Light and Sound International UK. “There’s nothing like it in the world,” said Lyndall Crisp, Australian Financial Review. “The sky above Hong Kong’s harbour erupts in a blaze of colour on Chinese New Year. It’s the largest attraction of its kind,” exclaimed Kelly Wardle, Special Events Magazine USA.
