Radiance is an immersive, Christmas-themed light and sound show that transforms the Rockhampton Botanic Gardens, Queensland, into a festive nighttime destination each holiday season. Now in its third year, the event has become a much-loved Christmas tradition, drawing families, visitors and the wider community together through storytelling, light and shared celebration.
Presented nightly from 28 November until Christmas Eve, Radiance continues to grow in scale and ambition, cementing its place as a signature event on Rockhampton’s festive calendar.
Each season of Radiance is built around a bespoke Christmas narrative designed specifically for the Gardens.
The 2025 experience introduced the ‘Toy Maker’s Workshop’ – a nostalgic and playful story inspired by traditional Christmas tales.
The creative approach balanced timeless festive themes with contemporary technology, inviting visitors to step inside a living Christmas story. Interactivity, light, special effects and sound were used throughout the immersive experience – sparking curiosity, evoking childhood wonder and encouraging exploration.
As darkness fell nightly, the Botanic Gardens were transformed through immersive light installations, magical holograms, vibrant special effects and custom soundscapes. Guests moved through a series of interconnected zones, discovering moments of surprise and delight along the way.
Radiance has grown into a beloved Christmas tradition for the Rocky community and it’s great to see it return for its third year.
