Radiance, Rockhampton

Rockhampton Botanic Gardens, Queensland, 2023–2025

Combining immersive lighting, lasers, holograms, interactive projection, special effects and sound, Radiance, Rockhampton transformed the heritage-listed Rockhampton Botanic Gardens into a spectacular Christmas wonderland across three consecutive festive seasons from 2023–2025.

Launching in 2023, Laservision’s first Christmas-themed Luna Light Journey welcomed almost 50,000 visitors between 1–24 December, with multiple nights and sessions selling out.

Returning with a completely new narrative each season, Radiance evolved from the adventure of a lost reindeer in 2023 to Dusty the Dingo in 2024 and the Toy Maker’s Workshop in 2025. Festive lighting, interactive experiences, the reflective Japanese Gardens and falling snow helped create a distinctly different Christmas experience each year.

Across three consecutive seasons, Laservision partnered with Rockhampton Regional Council to produce, install, operate and continually reimagine Radiance within the Rockhampton Botanic Gardens.

TECHNICAL

OPERATION

Operating an immersive Christmas experience night after night throughout December requires extensive planning, technical expertise and coordination.

Laservision’s Operations and Technical teams, working in partnership with Rockhampton Regional Council, were responsible for ensuring Radiance remained show-ready throughout each season while managing sophisticated multimedia technology within the heritage-listed Rockhampton Botanic Gardens.

Summer weather, outdoor conditions and significant nightly crowds required robust technical systems and ongoing monitoring. Lighting, projection, lasers, holograms, audio, interactive installations and special effects were tested and maintained throughout each season to provide audiences with a consistent experience.

Across three consecutive festive seasons, Laservision successfully produced, operated and continually evolved Radiance, establishing the Christmas-themed Luna Light Journey as a much-loved festive experience for Rockhampton and the wider region.
