Singapore’s Marina Bay Sands unveiling

Laservision's expertise integral to the grand opening of Marina Bay Sands in Singapore

Laservision along with a collection of celebrity chefs, leading fashion designers, luxury spa operators, musical stars and over 3,000 international VIPs launched Marina Bay Sands. Marina Bay Sands is the leading business, leisure and entertainment destination in Asia.

Designed by world-renowned architect Moshe Safdie, the 2,560-room luxury hotel is equipped with a 120,000-square-metre convention and exhibition centre. Additionally, Marina Bay Sands features a designer shopping mall, restaurants, the Art Science Museum, two theatres and a spectacular SkyPark. The SkyPark is suspended 200 metres in the air with an observation deck set on top of the world’s largest public cantilever structure.

The Las Vegas Sands Corporation, a Fortune 500 company, engaged Laservision to conceive, design, produce and deploy a spectacular opening event to bring to life this iconic structure as night fell.

Laservision, well known for its son et lumière shows worldwide, artistically combined fountains, lighting, lasers, architectural lighting, flame effects and special effects to generate a high-energy experience radiating across the bay.

As a result of the opening night event being very well received by the public, Sands Corporation commissioned Laservision to turn the event into a permanent, nightly tourist attraction. Consequently, Laservision went on to develop the award-winning light show, ‘Wonder Full’.

Lighting Marina Bay Sands

The Convention and Exhibition Centre, Casino and Twin Theatre’s massive concave roof are illuminated with over 1,000 LED fixtures. The LED fixtures transform the one kilometre of roofing into a vibrant live and colourful canvas. These fixtures give the hotel the ability to come to life at night in a wash of colours. Alternatively, they can create animated ethereal effects across the entire extent of the integrated resort. Additional upsides of the state-of-the-art LEDs are that they return high energy efficiency, long life and more than one billion colours.

Multiple searchlight beams extending from the water oculus up into the heavens brought the Art Science Museum to life. Furthermore, 15-metre high flame effects on the fingertips created further positive energy.

The highly-anticipated Sands SkyPark, which sits 60 storeys high, features a 150-metre-long infinity-edge swimming pool. The SkyPark provides a spectacular view of the city and during the launch on opening night, it was under-lit with a dramatic animated ‘water’ lighting effect. This animated water effect further enhanced the architect, Moshie Safdie’s dream of a ship floating through the night sky.
