The City of Cairns lights up in celebration of where the rainforest meets the reef in ‘Reef Lights’ – an awe-inspiring and immersive sensory light experience along Cairns Esplanade and Lagoon.
Combining two World Heritage-listed icons, the Great Barrier Reef and the Wet Tropics Rainforest, and following the success of 2022, LASERVISION returns to celebrate the interconnection of these two magical worlds as part of Cairns Festival, Friday 25 August – Sunday 3 September, 2023.
‘Reef Lights’ is an extraordinary journey for all guests, incorporating innovative technologies, vibrant colours, captivating lasers, water screens, digital artworks and enchanting soundscapes, while making a dramatic statement about Cairns, its unique culture and its strong connection to two of Australia’s most incredible natural wonders, the Great Barrier Reef and the Wet Tropics Rainforest.
Mayor Bob Manning said Cairns Festival was the biggest arts and culture event on the Cairns calendar. “This year’s program provides entertainment for all ages, with the return of events like the Grand Parade and fireworks, as well as the interactive Reef Lights that was so popular last year.”
