After a sold out debut season in 2024, the immersive light show titled, Nocturnal, returns to Scenic World in the Blue Mountains with all-new production and an extended nightly season.
Nocturnal 2025, 3 April – 11 May, celebrates the native wildlife and plant life of the Blue Mountains in Katoomba, marking the 80th anniversary of the iconic Scenic World attraction.
This year’s show transforms Scenic World into an immersive after-dark adventure, combining holographic native animals, projection mapping across ancient rock formations and a luminous interpretation of the forest’s secret language.
Inspired by the World Heritage-listed Blue Mountains and Gundungurra Country, Nocturnal 2025 offers a sensory journey that highlights the region’s breathtaking landscapes and unique biodiversity.
The light show also pays tribute to Scenic World’s remarkable engineering achievements from the world’s steepest railway to Australia’s first cable car. “We’ve evolved … into an internationally recognised destination, and this year, Nocturnal is a tribute to our history, our people and the stunning landscape we call home,” remarks Anthea Hammon, Managing Director at Scenic World.
Highlights of the light show include a holographic lyrebird shimmering in the moonlight, a glowing forest walk revealing the hidden communication of trees and mesmerising light projections that reflect the local history and terrain.
Visitors can descend into the darkness aboard the world’s steepest railway, soar above the canopy on cable cars suspended between towering cliffs, and witness the iconic Three Sisters illuminated against the night sky of the National Park.

Nocturnal is an opportunity to experience Scenic World in a whole new light – the rainforest around us and even the engineering marvels of our rides take on a fresh character at night.”
