Combining magical lighting, audio special effects and digital art, The Enchanted Garden, Brisbane entranced over 300,000 visitors at Roma Street Parkland, during the three years Laservision created, produced and operated the immersive night-time journey (2021-2023).

The family-friendly, Luna Light Journey combined over 8,000-square-metres of custom-made lighting, audio, special effects and sculptures. As a result, delivering a world-class digital art experience in a beautiful parkland.

Each December, The Enchanted Garden, Brisbane draws approximately one hundred thousand visitors to Roma Street Parkland. Laservision’s first year producing the journey in 2021 resulted in the existing ‘Enchanted Garden’ light show receiving an impressive upgrade. Multiple new technologies were implemented which created a mystical walking route featuring holograms, twinkling lights, lasers and projection mapping. In effect, taking audiences on an unprecedented interactive and immersive journey set amid a stunning sub-tropical garden.

Awarded a three-year contract by Brisbane City Council after a rigorous procurement process, the one-kilometre, no-step walking route combined awe-inspiring installations interconnected throughout the park to provide an immersive nighttime experience. This new show created by Laservision explored the balance between humans and nature, combining lighting, audio and other tactile elements to completely immerse the audience.

Show narrative

Laservision utilised state-of-the-art lighting and sound technology to enhance the narrative of each unique Luna Light Journey featured in Roma Street Parklands, 2021-2023.

In 2021, Laservision’s Creative team developed a ‘light vs dark’ narrative to be the overarching theme of the Luna Light Journey. Every bespoke piece of digital art or cohesive sound and light activation was designed to reflect this narrative along the paths traversed by guests.

Furthermore, 2022 featured a unique creative narrative titled ‘Guardians of the Park’, where the lighting installations and interactive digital art displays combined with the park’s spectacular designer gardens and beautiful walking trails to tell an entertaining story and provide a captivating night-time experience.

In 2023, Laservision invited guests to embark on an enchanting adventure to Mystic Island, exploring cascading waterfalls, colourful caves and tropical rainforests to find the crystal and restore the island’s balance. The ‘Mystic Island’ narrative was brought to life via interactive projections, pixel mapping, holograms, lasers, sound, signage and numerous special effects.

CUSTOMISED GOBOS

Artistically designed, customised colour gobos used to create dynamic imagery enhancing the narrative and immersive environments

CUSTOMISED ACTIVATIONS

Bespoke light art sculptures were created to act as the centrepiece for the show, allowing guests to influence the display through touch, deepening engagement

A treasure hunt experience was developed to engage guests as they embarked on an adventure, uncovering various surprises along the way
Weaved the brand’s narrative into the treasure hunt and activation experiences, creating a cohesive storyline that guided guests through each surprise

OPERATION

Operating one successful event on a single night is no mean feat, doing so consecutively for just short of a month requires planning, technical expertise and application.

Laservision’s Operations team was responsible for making The Enchanted Garden, Brisbane show ready every night, while balancing multiple external and environmental factors.

External factors such as petty vandalism are an unfortunate off-shoot of interweaving technology with nature over an 8,000 square-metre parkland. Poor weather also presents multiple challenges to an outdoor event, namely heavy rain impacts the paths guests traverse through the show while having a lesser impact on hardware due to our custom-built enclosures built to withstand the occasionally harsh Australian environment.
